CIO Next: Managing Digital and Technology in a Period of
Unparalleled Opportunity and Complexity

It has never been a better time or a more challenging time to be a CIO. So many of the rising technology opportunities, like digital transformation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data analytics offer the chance for CIOs to be in the middle of the discussion around topics of significant value to the enterprise. At the same time risks associated with security are also at the top of the agendas of many boards. Again, the CIO is one of the key drivers of risk mitigation, playing both offense and defense.

Finding faster paths to seizing opportunity and mitigating risks requires a better ecosystem. That ecosystem must include best in class, global CIOs, CEOs of leading technology firms, and venture capital companies.  The best of the best of all three will be present for the third annual Forbes CIO Summit on April 23 and 24 at the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay.

Today, IT pervades every meaningful function in every company in every industry. As such, IT needs to be thought of both more holistically and more creatively by the CIOs who run the function. A growing number of CIOs are taking their cues from product companies in thinking about how to manage IT. This discussion will provide details on how they’ve done just that.

Forbes CIO Innovation Award

The Deadline to Apply has Closed

Only recently have CIOs become leaders in “information.” Too many were focused on infrastructure rather than synthesizing valuable data. Now that information is king, an elite cadre of CIOs are using the company's most prized asset (and technology in general) to drive real revenue growth.

This award is open to chief information officers of any multi-billion dollar enterprise who have demonstrated the ability to generate real revenue growth. Please complete the following survey honestly, clearly and with sufficient examples and proof. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 10, 2017. The winners will be featured on stage at the Forbes CIO Summit on April 24 at the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay, Calif. and in Peter High’s Technovation column on Forbes.com.
